Trauma & Substance Use Therapy | Tampa Bay | Direct Wellness

Compassionate, evidence-based therapy that accepts health insurance — serving the Tampa Bay Area for in-person sessions and virtually throughout the state of Florida. Techniques used include Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), CBT, DBT skills and other modalities. In-person and virtual sessions available.

Life doesn't always give you a clear reason for why things feel hard. Maybe it's burnout that won't lift. Maybe anxiety has been running the show for longer than you'd like to admit. Maybe something happened that still shows up in ways you didn't expect. Whatever brought you here, you don't have to figure it out alone, and you don't have to navigate the cost of getting help alone either.

Individual therapy at Direct Wellness of Tampa Bay is designed for people ready to make a real change — and we make that care accessible by accepting health insurance, so cost isn't a barrier to getting support that works.

This isn't about coping better with a life that doesn't fit. It's about resolving what's underneath it — so you can build one that does.

Michael is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been a therapist since 2015. He's also aware that working with a male therapist can feel unfamiliar for some clients, particularly around trauma — and welcomes that conversation directly, at whatever pace feels right for you.

THERAPY SERVICES

It is often difficult to start the process to get help. Many things get in the way like stigma or judgment of yourself or by others. We may try to resolve some difficult things on our own, but some things don't respond to effort alone.

Every plan is tailored to you — built around your specific goals, your history, and what you're ready to work on, not a fixed protocol applied the same way to everyone. You have the final say throughout: which approaches we use, how quickly we move, and what you choose to share.

Michael specializes in trauma — helping people process what happened to them, not just manage the symptoms it left behind — and works with substance use as part of that same picture, not a separate problem to be handled elsewhere. Sessions draw on evidence-based approaches including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a rapid-resolution treatment designed to help the nervous system process and release traumatic memories more efficiently than talk therapy alone, alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills for anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation — selected and adjusted based on what actually fits you.

This isn't about coping better with a life that doesn't fit. It's about resolving what's underneath it, on your terms, so you can build one that does.
