Getting started
For many people, the hardest part of therapy is getting started. Sometimes, the roadblocks to therapy include anxiety around working with a male therapist, feeling like your problems are too small or too big, concern about what people may think, or concern about being labeled as “crazy”. I have had many years of experience working with people who have experienced trauma, especially trauma at the hands of men. I prioritize people’s feelings of safety and strive to create an environment where people can be themselves and address difficult events while feeling safe. You, the client are always in control. I am merely the guide to help you heal. There is no problem that is too big or small. I will work my best to address whatever problem you bring and will be forthcoming about my ability to address what you bring to therapy. I don’t practice in a vacuum and will consult and research problems in order to help you get the help that you need. Please let me assure you, you are not “crazy”. There is a lot of stigma associated with getting help for your mental health. I strongly believe in and enforce privacy practices mandated by HIPAA and CFR 42 part 2. I will help you deal with these concerns and feelings. You are not alone and I don’t want you to avoid healing due to stigma and fear.
